Ed Szrom Fine Art Images

Artist Bio

From an early age Ed Szrom had a deep affinity for the natural world. He was fortunate that his family spent summer weekends in the Indiana Dunes where he had the opportunity to see nature close up. His love of photography grew from his father and his godfather who were both excellent amateur photographers and who encouraged him with his own camera and soon his own darkroom.

Although professionally he remained in the financial field, photography was always a significant focus for him. His creativity was channeled into the design of financial reports and graphics. Living in Washington, DC, allowed him to photograph the surrounding countryside as well as the nearby waterfronts.  Eventually he acquired a home near Lost River, West Virginia, where his love of nature photography was further nourished.

 Artist Statement

Through my photography, I seek to capture the landscapes of the natural world in a way that shows the effect of man on his surroundings. Some of my many subjects include rural barns and other buildings and the effect that nature has had upon them along with the fleeting moments of seasonal change and the effects that time and nature have on the man-made landscape.

The goal of my photography is to inspire joy and wonder in the viewer to better appreciate the natural world around them. I take great pleasure in others seeing the amazing things that await them out there if they are only willing to look.

Process

All of my photos are shot digitally in RAW format and are minimally processed to show the original vision at the time the photo was taken. Such techniques as burning and dodging are the same as used by photographers throughout the history of the art.

All of Ed’s prints are produced in strictly limited editions.  They are printed on museum quality, acid-free papers with inks guaranteed to last over one hundred years.

Ed lives with his partner, John, and their standard poodle, Neha, in Washington, DC, and Lost River, WV.
